Job summary

Coastal Waste & Recycling is seeking a District Controller to partner with district and operations leaders, owning P&L analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance reporting. You will dig into revenue drivers, labor costs, route profitability, and fleet expenses to guide decisions.

You will lead monthly reviews, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support capital expenditures, pricing decisions, and new contracts, while collaborating with accounting on close and controls.

Qualifications

You’ll work closely with the District Manager and local leadership team to understand what is driving performance, identify opportunities, challenge the business when needed, and help turn financial data into better operational decisions.If you enjoy being close to the business, digging into the why behind the numbers, and helping leaders improve performance, this could be a great fit.What You’ll DoPartner directly with district and operational leadership on financial performance and business decisionsOwn district-level P&L analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance reportingAnalyze key operational drivers including revenue, labor, overtime, route profitability, disposal expense, fleet costs, and other operating expensesLead monthly financial reviews and translate results into clear, actionable recommendationsIdentify cost-saving opportunities, productivity improvements, and areas of financial riskSupport capital expenditure analysis, pricing decisions, and customer profitability reviewsPartner with Accounting on month-end close, reconciliations, reporting, and internal controlsSupport acquisitions, integrations, new contracts, and other growth initiativesHelp operational leaders understand financial information without making them feel like they need an accounting degree to do itWhat We’re Looking ForBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field5+ years of progressive accounting, finance, or financial-analysis experienceStrong experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reportingAbility to connect financial results to what is actually happening operationallyStrong communication skills and comfort working directly with non-finance leadersSomeone who is analytical, curious, accountable, and willing to challenge the status quoStrong Excel and financial-analysis skillsAbility to thrive in a fast-moving, growing organizationNice To HaveCPA or MBA, experience in waste, logistics, transportation, fleet-intensive operations, construction, or another multi-location operating environment, and experience with acquisitions or integrations are all a plus.Why Coastal?Coastal Waste & Recycling is a rapidly growing company with an entrepreneurial mindset.
