Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a District Asphalt Manager for District 7 under the Department of Transportation. You will oversee asphalt plants, coordinate with roadway personnel, and ensure all asphalt production complies with SCDOT specifications and QA procedures.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, two years of engineering or construction management experience, and a valid driver’s license. Travel and variable hours may be expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management.
• Two years of engineering or construction management work experience or equivalent.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license required.
• Travel may be required and extended/irregular hours possible.

Responsibilities

• Serves as District Asphalt Manager for District 7 and ensures asphalt production and placement meet SCDOT specifications.
• Inspects asphalt plants and field locations; checks computations of plant reports and tickets; maintains QA results.
• Assists districts with e-Ticketing; notifies engineers when asphalt does not meet specs and guides inspectors as needed.
• Maintains test result databases, supports inspectors with required reports, and participates in resolving production issues.
