Job summary

The State of South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a certified inspector to perform duties across asphalt, earthwork, drainage, concrete, and erosion prevention specialties, maintaining SCDOT/SCDHEC certifications and documenting field activities in AASHTOWare. You will inspect contractor work on highway projects, measure quantities, and ensure compliance with plans and specifications.

Requirements include a high school diploma and two years of related experience, with a Technician

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of progressively responsible engineering technician related experience or acceptable equivalence.
• Technician Certification may substitute for six months of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspect daily contractor work on highway and bridge projects across multiple disciplines.
• Document field measurements and wage items for accurate contractor payments.
• Enter sampling data into AASHTOWare and maintain the Sample Log.
• Prepare construction reports and daily field records.
• Monitor work zones and ensure traffic control devices meet specifications.
