Job summary

Arlington Independent School District seeks an Accountant to maintain accurate general ledger accounts and financial statements in line with GAAP and TEA regulations. You will work under the Director of Accounting to perform assigned duties and support the District's financial integrity.

The role requires handling journal entries, daily deposits, and audit cooperation, with proficiency in MS Office and basic fund accounting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in business administration in accounting or equivalent.
• Experience in working with computerized accounting systems.
• Must have a basic understanding of fund accounting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Prepare and post daily bank deposits.
• Manage Activity Fund account codes.
• Approve Activity Fund requisitions.
• Assist with annual District audit process.
• Print and mail accounts payable check runs (backup).
• Provide analytical and evaluative reports as needed.
• Provide schedules and information to external auditors.
• Respond to inquiries from District personnel on accounting issues.
• Provide training to campus and department personnel on accounting processes.
• Perform other projects as assigned by the Director.
