Job summary

McCormick & Company, Incorporated is seeking a Distribution Technician for our Maryland Logistics Center in Sparrows Point, MD. This hybrid (50/50) role reports to a Team Manager and supports picking, packing, staging, and data input to ensure timely customer orders.

The ideal candidate will have material handling equipment experience, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and the stamina to work overtime. SAP knowledge is a plus; we value accuracy, safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced warehouse

Qualifications

• Experience with material handling equipment and heavy industrial equipment.
• Accurate clerical and numerical skills; ability to read and follow complex procedures.
• Experience operating PIT equipment and battery charging systems.
• Ability to work overtime and lift 50+ pounds; work in extreme temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Picking/packing/staging of customer orders in a timely and accurate manner using PIT equipment.
• Operate various material handling equipment including standup reach and sit-down forklifts.
• Input data accurately and maintain documentation.
• Perform general warehouse duties: put-aways, replenishment, wrapping, loading/unloading.
• Participate in team meetings and special projects as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the general supervision of the Team Manager, the Distribution Technician is responsible for:

Picking/packing/staging of all customer orders in a timely (measured through Labor Management System – LMS) and accurate manner while operating material handling equipment Powered Industrial Equipment (PIT) equipment.

Operating a variety of material handling equipment including standup reach type equipment and/or sit-down fork trucks and a variety of industrial equipment including push-off machines, wrappers, pallet dispensers, and pallet flippers among others.

Accurate data input and documentation.

General warehouse duties include put-aways, line replenishment, wrapping, loading, and unloading.

Actively participating in team meetings and special projects as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Material handling equipment or heavy industrial equipment experience.

Accurate clerical and numerical skills, ability to read, interpret and follow complex procedures.

Experience required with operating a variety of equipment including Powered Industrial Equipment (PIT) and battery charging system

Ability to work in an environment where performance against specific standards is constantly measured

Ability to communicate effectively

Ability to work overtime frequently or on short notice

Ability to lift 50 pounds or more on a continuous basis

Ability to work in extreme temperatures

Ability to work in an environment with food-rated strong odors

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalency

Desired minimum of 2 years experience in order selection, warehousing, or inventory

PC experience, SAP knowledge

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer.
