Tampa Electric is a subsidiary of Emera Inc., a family of energy companies which also includes TECO Peoples Gas and New Mexico Gas Company. Responsible for analyzing, coordinating, dispatching, and documenting trouble and switching tasks, using independent judgment to responsibly direct field personnel to respond to system problems, customer problems, and requests within Tampa Electric’s distribution system.
Performs complex technical assignments; has decision-making responsibility requiring discretion and independent judgment with limited direction from Senior Distribution System Operator (DSO)/DCC Supervisor.
No direct reports, but indirectly supervises Troubleshooters, Substation Personnel, Transmission and Distribution Line Crews. Has authority to direct these personnel as needed for service restoration and problem resolution.
Reports to DCC Supervisor, with daily contact with System Restoration Supervisors, DSO colleagues, Planner Analysts, Line Supervisors, Field Personnel, and others. External contact includes Customers, Emergency Agencies, and utility contractors.
Required: High school diploma or GED
Preferred: Related college, technical degree, lineworker, or substation electrician
Required: Experience in one of the following:
Preferred: Experience with ADMS, CAD, GIS, and WorkPro programs
Performs all DSO duties independently, providing leadership and directing restoration and maintenance work, issuing switching, and supporting training.
Experience performing TEC DSO duties, completing training modules, and demonstrating independent switching capabilities. Preferably, experience managing ADMS and EMS applications for restoration, with strong knowledge of underground and overhead switching.
Must work rotating schedules covering 24/7, with significant overtime. Indoor office environment; high-stress situations possible.
Extended hours and shifts exceeding five days may be required.
