Job summary

ComEd in Illinois is seeking a Distribution System Operator 1 to optimize and operate the electric distribution system safely and efficiently. The role requires real-time decision making, operating procedures, and outage response with extended hours and rotating shifts.

You will supervise switching, tagging, and coordination with field teams, while maintaining voltages and loadings within limits. A bachelor’s degree in a tech field is preferred.

Qualifications

• Meet job requirements of Distributed System Operator 1 and have at least 6 months DSO1-equivalent experience.
• Ability to sit/stand for extended periods; distinguish colors on schematics.
• Formal OCC training knowledge and strong operating procedures understanding.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated analytical skills and judgment.
• Willingness to work shift schedules.

Responsibilities

• Follow policies to maintain system reliability and safety.
• Gather/analyze data to assess switching feasibility and safe operation.
• Direct/evaluate electrical switching and safety tagging activities.
• Notify personnel for outages, emergencies and equipment issues.
• Maintain SCADA displays and system maps; record events in logs.
