Job summary

FirstEnergy in Reading, PA is seeking a Distribution System Operator to monitor and protect the regional distribution network. This role requires operating SCADA/EMS/OMS and coordinating with field staff to maintain reliability.

Candidates should have an Associate's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related ABET-accredited program, with 4+ years of distribution experience, strong problem solving, and effective communication under pressure.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related ABET-accredited field.
• 4+ years of related work experience in transmission/distribution operations.
• Knowledge of Transmission and Distribution operation, maintenance and construction practices.
• Ability to prioritize work for efficient and safe operations.
• Strong communication with customers, supervisors, peers, and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Monitor day-to-day operations of the regional distribution system.
• Outage restoration during emergencies with documentation.
• Recommend operational improvements and communicate system events to staff.
• Operate SCADA, EMS, OMS, EDOA and RDO notifications and related systems.
• Analyze disturbances and restore to normal configuration.
• Coordinate staffing and assign switching for emergencies.
• Complete training to progress to the Regional Distribution System Operator level.
