Placements24 is seeking a strategic Distribution Network Planner to optimize the distribution network for an FMCG client. The role requires hybrid work with on-site presence and travel within the Eastern Cape region, including East London.

You will analyze and improve delivery efficiency, costs, and reliability using data-driven methods and ERP tools. The ideal candidate has a background in supply chain planning, logistics, or network optimization, with strong analytical and collaboration skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in SCM, Logistics, IE, BA or related field.
• 4–6 years in supply chain planning, logistics or network optimization.
• Experience with network design, route optimization, and inventory planning.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis and modeling software.
• Experience with SAP and Oracle ERP systems.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel to East London, Eastern Cape.

Responsibilities

• Analyze current distribution network operations to identify bottlenecks and cost reductions.

About the Role

Our client, a significant player in the FMCG sector, is seeking a strategic Distribution Network Planner for their operations based out of East London . This hybrid role offers the flexibility to work remotely while requiring regular on-site presence and travel within the Eastern Cape to oversee and optimize the distribution network. You will be responsible for analyzing and improving the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and reliability of the company's distribution channels. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of logistics and supply chain principles, and the ability to develop data-driven strategies to enhance network performance. This is a crucial role for ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products across the region, contributing to our client's market competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze current distribution network operations, identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for cost reduction.
• Develop and implement optimized distribution routes and strategies to improve delivery times and reduce transportation expenses.
• Utilize advanced planning and modeling tools to forecast demand and plan inventory levels across the network.
• Collaborate with logistics partners, transportation providers, and warehouse managers to ensure seamless operations.
• Evaluate and recommend optimal locations for warehouses and distribution centers.
• Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions in the supply chain.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in supply chain planning, logistics management, or network optimization, preferably within the FMCG industry.
• Proven experience in network design, route optimization, and inventory planning.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in statistical analysis and modeling software.
• Experience with supply chain planning software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be comfortable with a hybrid work model, balancing remote planning and analysis with regular on-site presence and travel in and around East London, Eastern Cape, ZA .
• Knowledge of transportation modes and carrier management.
• Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional projects.
