Job summary

Eversource in Shelton, CT is seeking a field technician to remove, repair, replace, and install gas piping and to investigate odor complaints. You will operate a backhoe, dump truck, and pavement-breaking tools while performing walking leak surveys and utility mark outs.

The role requires physical work, on-call readiness, and DOT-related qualifications. External candidates may need CAST testing; a valid CDL and clean driving record are required.

Job description

Applicants requiring visa sponsorship to start employment with Eversource will not be considered.Position Description:Individual will remove, repair, replace, and install various sizes and types of gas piping; investigate and repair gas odor complaints; operate various types of pavements breaking and road cutting equipment; and operate a backhoe and dump truck. The selected candidate must also perform walking leak surveys; perform underground utility mark outs; and perform drilling and tapping of various sizes and types of gas mains. Individual will be required during periods of trouble call assignment to make themselves available at their reporting base within approximately 30 minutes. Selected candidates will be subject to work shift work. In addition, individual must be able to move and lift material weighing up to 60 lbs.; and must be able to perform on-call emergency response duties. The selected candidate will be exposed to environmental elements e.g., extreme heat, cold, etc., possible exposure to confined spaces, solvents, cutting oils, epoxies, flammable gases, and nuisance dusts. Floor to knuckle lifting will be a major role in this position.This position will be part of the Distribution overtime list for the Shelton area.Working Conditions:Field Service: Exposure to environmental elements e.g., extreme heat, cold, etc. May be exposed to confined spaces, solvents, cutting oils, epoxies, flammable gases, and nuisance dusts.
