Job summary

Eversource Energy in Somerville, MA is hiring a Gas Service Technician/Fitter to install, repair and maintain gas meters, lines and appliances. You will test for leaks and work on boilers, ovens and gas fireplaces, connecting appliances to gas, water and electrical systems.

Requires a valid driver's license, a high school diploma or GED, and 2 years of related mechanical experience; DOT drug testing applies. Position is union represented with shift work.

Qualifications

• Must pass the EEI CAST Test.
• Pre-screening completion and training evaluations required.
• Must pass pre-employment drug test per DOT regulations.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
• High School Diploma or GED required; vocational, mechanical, or plumbing training preferred.
• Ability to work independently outdoors in all weather; able to walk long distances with meters/tools.
• 2 years of related mechanical experience; gas utility experience preferred.
• Must have history of safe working habits.

ROLE & SCOPE:

The Gas Service Technician is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining gas meters, regulators, gas lines and gas appliances.Testing for gas leaks.Working on boilers, ovens, gas fireplaces, gas-fired refrigerators, hydronic heating systems, and related. Installing and connecting appliances to gas, water, and electrical supplies.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 1. Must pass the EEI CAST Test.
• 2. This position will require the satisfactory completion of a pre-screening (for new hires), completion of company training programs, evaluations and written test.
• 3. Qualified applicants must pass a pre-employment/pre-placement drug test in accordance with D.O.T regulations.
• 4. Must possess a valid Driver's License and maintain a clean driving record.
• 5. High School Diploma or GED required. Vocational, mechanical, or plumbing training is highly preferred
• 6. Ability to work independently and outdoors in all types of varying weather conditions. Must be physically capable of walking long distances while carrying gas meters/tools.
• 7. Must have 2 years of related mechanical experience, gas utility experience preferred.
• 9. Must have a history of safe working habits.
