Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Line Crew Supervisor to oversee a distribution line crew, with duties including safe construction, maintenance, operation and retirement of distribution lines. You will mentor staff and perform Line Mechanic A tasks as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, two years of Line Mechanic A experience, and a valid CDL (Class A) along with excellent safety and leadership skills. Overtime and on-call work are expected, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years experience as Line Mechanic A; leadership experience preferred.
• Must have a valid state driver's license and meet vehicle operation requirements; Class A CDL required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct a line crew in construction, maintenance, operation and retirement of distribution lines.
• Perform duties of Line Mechanic A as needed.
• Oversee rapid restoration of service and line switching to ensure reliability.
• Ensure safe use of tools and equipment and compliance with safety policies.
• Direct switching operations and line clearances; mentor and develop staff.
