Job summary

Design Hire LLC in San Diego, CA, seeks an electrical/ civil engineer to develop overhead electrical design packages, perform calculations, and produce construction documents for utility distribution projects.

The role requires experience with PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE, O-Calc, or Spida Calc, and knowledge of NEC-based codes (GO95, NESC, IEEE, ASCE). EIT preferred; SDG&E experience desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, O-Calc, or Spida Calc.
• Working knowledge of electrical distribution design and utility engineering practices.
• Familiarity with local electrical codes, GO95, NESC, IEEE, and ASCE standards.
• Ability to interpret and apply client and industry standards.
• EIT certification preferred.
• SDG&E experience desirable.

• Perform engineering calculations, structural assessments, and quantity takeoffs to support project design and construction.
• Produce and maintain detailed plan production deliverables while ensuring drawing packages meet project and client requirements.
• Analyze construction and operational problems, identify practical solutions, and coordinate technical revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Perform quality assurance (QA) reviews of drawings and calculations and assist with scope and fee development for assigned work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, O-Calc, or Spida Calc.
• Working knowledge of electrical distribution design and utility engineering practices.
• Familiarity with local electrical codes, GO95, NESC (National Electrical Safety Code), IEEE, and ASCE standards.
• Ability to interpret and apply client and industry standards to engineering deliverables.
• EIT certification is preferred.
• SDG&E experience is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and technical documentation skills.
