Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s).
  • Conduct analyses to develop design options, perform modeling and calculations, and prepare design sketches and concept drawings.
  • Collaborate with Designers and CAD Technicians to develop construction drawings per standards and project specs.
  • Assist with cost estimates or specifications.
  • Participate in field reviews or construction observation.
  • Designs include electrical layout, cable heating and sizing, overhead/underground structures, equipment selection and BOM development.
  • Occasional short travel; longer assignments may occur.
  • Collaborate across Power Delivery disciplines to meet client needs.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Distribution EIT, we’ll count on you to
  • Work under the direction of Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s).
  • Conduct analyses to develop design options, perform modeling and/or calculations, and prepare design sketches and concept drawings.
  • Work with Designers and CAD Technicians to develop construction drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes and project specifications and requirements.
  • Assist with preparing cost estimates or specifications.
  • Participate in field reviews or construction observation.
  • Typical designs include electrical layout design, cable heating and sizing analysis, overhead and underground structure design, electrical equipment selection and development of bill of materials. Designs must also consider construction requirements.
  • Occasional short-term travel (typically 1-5 days) may be necessary. Longer term (several weeks) assignments may be required infrequently on project assignments.
  • Work across disciplines within Power Delivery as required to meet dynamic client needs.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of distribution design experience.
  • Experience performing aspects associated with overhead and underground electrical distribution system analysis and design, lighting design, distribution field staking, joint-use-field review and design, and knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
  • Experience with industry software including: CYMCAP, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, Polywater Pull Planner, PLS-CADD, Spida Calc, Pole Foreman, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Some travel may be required. Preference will be given to local candidates.
