Job summary

HDR is seeking a Distribution EIT in Seattle, WA to join our Power Delivery team. You will conduct analyses, develop design options, and prepare sketches under PM guidance, contributing to reliable electrical distribution systems.

Qualified candidates have a bachelor's in engineering, 2+ years' distribution design experience, knowledge of NESC, and familiarity with CYMCAP, ETAP and SKM. We value clear communication and cross-discipline collaboration.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of distribution design experience.
• Experience with overhead and underground distribution system analysis and design.
• Experience with lighting design, distribution field staking, joint-use-field review.
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
• Proficient with CYMCAP, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, PLS-CADD, Spida Calc, Pole Foreman.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direction of Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s).
• Conduct analyses to develop design options, perform modeling and calculations, and prepare design sketches.
• Develop construction drawings with Designers and CAD Technicians according to standards and project specifications and requirements.
• Assist with preparing cost estimates or specifications.
• Participate in field reviews or construction observation.
• Occasional short-term travel (1-5 days); longer assignments may be required infrequently.
• Work across disciplines within Power Delivery to meet dynamic client needs.
• Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Distribution EIT, we'll count on you to:

• Work under the direction of Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s).
• Conduct analyses to develop design options, perform modeling and/or calculations, and prepare design sketches and concept drawings.
• Work with Designers and CAD Technicians to develop construction drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes and project specifications and requirements.
• Assist with preparing cost estimates or specifications.
• Participate in field reviews or construction observation.
• Typical designs include electrical layout design, cable heating and sizing analysis, overhead and underground structure design, electrical equipment selection and development of bill of materials. Designs must also consider construction requirements.
• Occasional short-term travel (typically 1-5 days) may be necessary. Longer term (several weeks) assignments may be required infrequently on project assignments.
• Work across disciplines within Power Delivery as required to meet dynamic client needs.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of distribution design experience.
• Experience performing aspects associated with overhead and underground electrical distribution system analysis and design, lighting design, distribution field staking, joint‑use‑field review and design, and knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
• Experience with industry software including: CYMCAP, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, Polywater Pull Planner, PLS‑CADD, Spida Calc, Pole Foreman, etc.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Some travel may be required. Preference will be given to local candidates.
