Job summary

Katapult seeks a licensed Professional Engineer to design electric distribution systems and steward engineering standards. You will blend hands-on distribution design with standards stewardship, delivering compliant, safe infrastructure.

You will report to the Innovation Director, working full-time in person at Katapult's Dillsburg, PA office. The role emphasizes collaboration across planning, operations, and asset management teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in electric utility distribution design or related work.
• Active PE license, or EIT/FE with path to PE.
• Working knowledge of NESC and electric utility design standards.
• Experience with overhead and underground distribution construction practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
• Ensure designs comply with NESC, standards, and regulations.
• Review designs and drawings for accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with planning, operations, construction, and asset management teams.
• Support cost estimating and project scoping for distribution design projects.

In this role, you will be part of an innovation team responsible for designing electric distribution systems and for transitioning the program into the Engineering Services department once it has matured. We're looking for a licensed Professional Engineer to design distribution infrastructure and steward the engineering standards that guide our team's work. This role blends hands‑on distribution design work with a standards‑stewardship responsibility — you will design real projects while ensuring our engineering practices stay current, consistent, and code‑compliant.

You will report to the Innovation Director while the venture remains in the Innovation Team. The job will be full-time and in person at Katapult's office in Dillsburg, PA.

Expected Job Roles

• Design overhead and underground electric distribution systems using Katapult Pro for new and upgraded infrastructure, including conductor sizing, pole/structure specifications, transformer sizing, and protective device coordination (Click here to create a free read-only account to view a demo job in Katapult Pro)
• Ensure designs comply with National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), company engineering standards, and state/local regulations
• Review designs and drawings prepared by other engineers or designers for accuracy and compliance
• Coordinate with planning, operations, construction, and asset management teams to ensure constructability and alignment with system needs
• Support cost estimating and project scoping for distribution design projects
• Participate in continuous improvement of design processes, templates, and tools
• Stay current on industry codes, utility best practices, and emerging distribution technologies

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• 2–5 years of experience in electric utility distribution design or related work
• Active PE license, or EIT/FE certification with a clear path to obtaining a PE
• Working knowledge of NESC and electric utility design standards
• Experience with overhead and underground distribution construction practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
