Job summary

Electric Power Engineers in Panama City, Panama seeks a Staff Engineer II/III to lead design and coordination of modern electric distribution systems. You will survey sites, develop design packages, and liaise with field teams and clients to ensure high-quality project delivery.

The role requires collaboration across design and construction phases, strong English skills, and travel as needed to support diverse projects in the grid modernization efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required or related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in distribution system design and ability to manage tasks from inception to completion.
• Familiarity with distribution systems, AutoCAD, GIS and pole loading software (IKE Poleforeman, Ocalc, SpidaCalc).
• Staff Engineer III: same as above but with 3–4 years of experience and demonstrated leadership in project coordination and field support.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Overview

We are designing the Grid of the future! Join our innovative team as a Staff Engineer II/III, where you will play a crucial role in designing and coordinating modern and reliable electric distribution systems. This position is based in Panama and involves collaboration with various stakeholders to deliver high-quality and impactful projects.

Responsibilities

How you can make an impact :

• Surveys of electric distribution systems, documenting conditions and collecting data for design purposes. Work closely with construction crews to ensure the implementation of designs.
• Design Tasks: Utilize AutoCAD, GIS systems, and pole loading software (IKE Poleforeman, Ocalc, SpidaCalc) to design overhead and underground electric distribution systems. Prepare comprehensive design packages including drawings, material lists, and cost estimates.
• Project Coordination: Act as the primary liaison between design teams, field personnel, and stakeholders. Manage schedules, resolve field issues, and support construction phases.
• Client Interaction: Engage with clients to understand project requirements, provide technical insights, and address design challenges.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate technical documentation and project deliverables in alignment with client specifications and timelines.

Performance Criteria

• Timely and precise completion of field surveys and design packages.
• Effective coordination of projects and resolution of design and field issues.
• Competent management of multiple tasks and consistent communication across project teams.
