Job summary

Brooksource is seeking a Distribution Design Engineer to support electric utility distribution design, including overhead and underground work for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. The role combines customer service, design software, and regulatory knowledge to move jobs from request to closeout.

Based in Springfield, OH, you will be a regular point of contact for customers and internal teams, ideal for early-career engineers with a technical degree or relevant field experience

Qualifications

• Requires a two- to four-year degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline or a high school diploma with at least 2 years of utility design experience.
• Must pass the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Technician Occupations Selection System (TECH) employment test.
• Strong communication skills and ability to guide decisions with customers and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate and direct a solid safety commitment.
• Apply company construction standards to complete single- and 3-phase designs for residential, commercial, and industrial requests.
• Support job progress through customer contacts, field work, and documentation.
• Facilitate billing for line extension and relocation work, including non-routine scenarios.
• Complete OMS follow-up requests, inspections, and maintenance repairs including streetlight work and outages.
• Acquire railroad, DOT, and municipal permits.
• Work with customers to secure easements for line extensions and highway projects.
• Update and maintain compliant records supporting technical reports and metrics.
• Provide ongoing assistance during emergencies and storm-related activities.
