Job summary

Remington Arms in Lonoke, AR is seeking a dependable Material Handler for the 10 Hour Evening Shift. You will receive, store, mix, blend, transport and manage materials as directed, while following safety rules and maintaining process records.

Responsibilities include forklift operation, inventory control, and hazardous materials handling in a metal/munitions manufacturing setting. A high school diploma, English fluency, and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English sufficiently to perform duties.
  • Read and comprehend process instructions and record pertinent information.
  • PC skills to navigate documents and print as required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Tends machines or processes as directed by supervisor.
  • Operates forklift/jeep/rider forklift to load/unload and move pallets.
  • Receive, store, blend/mix and transfer raw materials, primers and chemicals.
  • Maintain inventory integrity and accurate transfer of materials.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly and document process records.

General Summary

SHIFT: 10 Hour Evening Shift Receives, stores, mixes, blends, transports, delivers and destroys/recycles raw materials, finished goods, scrap and explosive materials as directed by area supervisor. Performs quality assurance checks as directed. Follows oral and written instructions, wears protective equipment where and when directed and obeys all plant and safety rules and regulations. Supports the facility's mission, safety and ISO goals and directives and is an active participant of the Remington Team.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities
  • Obeys plant, department and area rules and regulations and proactively encourages other team members to do so.
  • Obtains, maintains and wears or uses all necessary safety equipment as directed by work instructions or area supervisor.
  • Attends shift, department and plant meetings in a timely manner as directed by supervisor.
  • Tends one or more machines or processes in work area(s) as directed by area supervisor, including but not limited to:
  • Transporting raw, semi-finished and finished materials to and from collection points by forklift, motor vehicle or by cart
  • Receiving, storing, blending/mixing and transferring raw materials, powder, primers and chemicals as required
  • Maintaining inventory levels at collection points that adequately support manufacturing
  • Rendering explosives harmless and separating and preparing components for recycling
  • Maintains process integrity with proper documentation and observance of process records
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area at all times.
  • Operate a jeep truck, walker stacker or rider forklift truck to load, unload trucks, transport, stack and unstack pallet loads to and from storage, elevators, trucks, etc.
  • Perform general distribution duties connected with the receipt, storage, and delivery of raw materials, ammunition and other products.
  • Maintains inventory integrity with proper transfers of raw materials in Max May handle hazardous waste, including labeling, inspecting, storing and transferring.

Educational Skills and Experience
  • High School diploma, G.E.D. certificate or recognized equivalent
  • Ability to speak, read and write in the English language sufficient enough to perform the following: Communicate effectively with other team members and supervision
  • Read and comprehend process instructions
  • Record pertinent process information as required
  • Personal computer skills sufficient enough to navigate menus, select, open and print documents.
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; extreme heat; explosives and vibration. Eye protection in the form of approved safety glasses with side shields or approved safety goggles is required. Approved conductive steel-toe safety shoes are required. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires hearing protection to be worn in the work area.

Physical Demands
  • Vision correctable to 20/20 with normal depth perception and peripheral vision
  • Ability to repeatedly lift and move up to 65 lbs. unaided
  • Ability to push a loaded production buggy weighing as much as 1,500 lbs.
  • Ability to move a full 55 gallon barrel onto and off a pallet by hand.
  • Ability to stand or sit for up to 3 hours at a time
  • Ability to occasionally kneel, crouch, bend or extend reach as required to perform tasks
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs
  • Ability to grasp and feel small parts
  • Ability to use an electric jeep, walker stacker, rider forklift, box truck and a narrow aisle stacker.

Work Environment: Employee work assignments may include tasks working with and/or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations.

Pay Range

Starting Hourly Rate: $21.26 The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
