Job description

Distribution Control Associate

Location: Goleta, California

Pay Rate: $18.42 – $20.42 per hour

Position Overview

Our client, a medical device manufacturer, is seeking a Distribution Control Associate for an onsite contract engagement in Goleta, California, running approximately five months. The role supports distribution operations for medical products where accuracy and traceability are regulatory requirements, not just good practice.

This position suits someone dependable and detail-focused who wants to build experience in a regulated distribution environment. It offers steady hands-on work with clear procedures and a supportive operations team.

Key Responsibilities

You will receive, verify, and process incoming and outgoing shipments, checking quantities and part numbers against documentation, confirming lot and serial number accuracy, and recording transactions correctly in the inventory management system.

You will pick, pack, and prepare customer and internal orders according to specification, selecting appropriate packaging, applying correct labeling, and preparing shipping documentation so that every shipment leaves complete and correctly identified.

You will maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counting, location management, and prompt investigation and reporting of discrepancies, paying particular attention to lot traceability and expiry date control for medical products.

You will support quality and regulatory compliance by following documented procedures precisely, maintaining clean and organized storage areas, handling product in line with storage requirements, operating material handling equipment safely, and completing all records legibly and contemporaneously.

You will support returns and non-conforming material handling, segregating affected product correctly, completing the required documentation, and routing items to quality for disposition rather than returning them to saleable stock. You will also assist with kitting and assembly of product sets where required, ensuring component accuracy and correct labeling on every kit produced.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with prior warehouse, distribution, or inventory experience in a structured operating environment.

You must demonstrate strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping, the ability to follow written procedures exactly, and basic computer literacy including inventory or warehouse management system data entry.

The role requires standing for extended periods, repetitive motion, and lifting up to fifty pounds. You must be able to work onsite in Goleta, California for the assigned shift and maintain consistent attendance throughout the engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in a medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated distribution environment is strongly preferred, including familiarity with lot traceability and controlled documentation.

Forklift certification, experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle, familiarity with GMP or ISO 13485 requirements, and exposure to shipping compliance for regulated or temperature-sensitive product are all advantageous.

Familiarity with FIFO and FEFO stock rotation practice is valued, as is experience handling product with storage temperature or humidity requirements. Exposure to internal or third-party audits, experience with cycle count programs, and any background supporting a distribution operation through a system implementation or process change are advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

This engagement pays an hourly rate in the range of $18.42 to $20.42, based on experience, across a contract of approximately five months with a defined end date.

You will gain distribution experience within a regulated medical device operation, which carries real weight on a resume and opens doors across life sciences supply chain roles. The environment is clean and well organized, procedures are clear, and extension or conversion may be possible depending on performance and continued need.
