Job summary

Sioux-Honey-Association is seeking a Distribution Center Warehouse Clerk for full-time days. You will coordinate daily shipping, receiving and inventory within the Distribution Center and act as a liaison with Transportation, Purchasing, Customer Service, Production, and corporate teams to ensure accurate paperwork, inventory and system data.

The role requires strong communication, time management and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills across email and verbal.
  • Warehouse experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate shipping, receiving and inventory activities with the Manager and Supervisor to ensure processes are followed.
  • Coordinate daily with Transportation for shipping schedule, pickups, and load destinations; verify proper PO or delivery numbers.
  • Work with Purchasing to coordinate inbound orders, validate quantities and exceptions; ensure BOLs are noted and communicated.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service to review inventory for orders and address shortages or surpluses in time.
  • Verify shipments with FIFO, inspect loads, complete packing lists and BOLs; ensure SAP reflects all information before shipment.
  • Manage cycle counts, recounts, and daily counts; coordinate with Corporate on count requirements.
  • Monitor shipping/receiving locations throughout the day and escalate issues; ensure daily return-to-stock is emptied.
  • Ensure documents are scanned to the Sales Order or Purchase Order.

Position Summary:

The Distribution Center Warehouse Clerk is responsible for coordinating and supporting the daily shipping, receiving, and inventory activities of the Distribution Center. This position serves as an important communication link between the Distribution Center, Transportation, Purchasing, Customer Service, Production, and corporate teams to ensure products, paperwork, inventory, and system information are accurate and processed efficiently.

Essential Functions:

This list is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary from time to time.

  • Be the coordinator of shipping, receiving and inventory activities of the Distribution Center. Working closely with the Manager and Supervisor, this role will require an effective communicator and a strong focus on ensuring processes are followed by everyone.
  • Coordinate daily with Transportation to confirm shipping schedule, setting carrier pick up appointments, or which drop trailers go on which loads. Ensure all drivers are checking in with proper PO or Delivery number and correct destination before allowing loading.
  • Work with Purchasing to coordinate inbound Purchase Orders, set appointments, confirming quantities received, reviewing errors in receiving either product, paperwork or quality. Ensuring all BOL’s are properly noted with any exceptions to the load and effectively communicated to the purchasing team.
  • Work with Customer Service team on available inventory for orders, ensuring that orders are reviewed 2 business days prior to shipping so any shortages or extra products we want to send can be communicated in time for Customer Service to work with the customer.
  • Review all shipments to ensure orders are accurately picked using FIFO, load inspections are completed, packing list and BOL are filled out correctly reflecting the right quantities, lots and items. Work with Shipping Supervisor to ensure correct pallets are being loaded, properly labeled, and accounted for. Validate that SAP accurately reflects all the information before completing the shipment and giving the paperwork to the driver.
  • Ensure that the team performs their cycle counting, hand out the cycle count documents, enter the counts when done, and confirm any changes. Assign recounts to the supervisor as needed, ensure recounts are completed and entered in the system. This person will also coordinate with corporate on any physical count requirement other than cycle counts, ensure that these get completed daily or based on the requirements from Corporate.
  • Throughout the day continuously review shipping and receiving locations are properly emptied as loads are either shipped or put away. Ensure every morning that the return to stock locations from the line production is also emptied. Call out any issues immediately to management.
  • Daily ensure all documents are properly scanned to the Sales Order or Purchase Order.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite, and SAP S4HANA software preferred but not required.
  • Able to work independently and as part of an overall team
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Excellent time management skills; able to prioritize.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Good organizational and communication skills across email and verbal
  • Previous experience in a warehouse environment preferred
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English

Physical Requirements:

  • Required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel.
  • Required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Close vision abilities required.

Description of the Work Environment:This position is part of the Shipping/Receiving Department and most of the work will take place within the Plant portion of the facility. This position will come in contact with many other employees within the facility and it is the expectation of the organization that we always maintain an attitude of dignity and respect when interacting with each other.
