Job summary

Mattress Firm is seeking an Assistant Operations Manager to support the Garner, NC distribution center's daily operations and supervision of the DC team. You will help ensure on-time product handling and adherence to safety standards while contributing to financial objectives.

The role includes onboarding new team members, maintaining clear communication, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to deliver world-class service to internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the efficient day-to-day operations of the distribution center.
• Contribute to meeting overall financial objectives of the distribution center compared to budget.
• Create and foster an environment of trust, open two-way communication, and cohesive team effort.
• Ensure alignment with strategic vision and communicate organizational mission and values to the team.
• Communicate with team members through regular and frequent meetings.
• Hold one-on-one meetings with direct reports at least twice a month.
• Ensure adherence to operational processes, policies, and procedures.
• Identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives in the distribution center.
• Facilitate resolution of customer service issues.
• Verify driver payroll for accuracy.
• Conduct required physical cycle counts, review discrepancies, and make appropriate corrections.
• Ensure use of proper safety equipment and maintain a safe working environment by ensuring adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
• Complete all required training modules and certifications prior to the due date.
• Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed to ensure a safe work environment for all.
• Communicate professionally with all internal and external contacts.
• Follow all Company policies and execute Company standards on appearance and functionality as well as appropriate brand representation.
• Communicate any concerns or issues to leadership to ensure proper efficiency of department and company operations.
• Execute team member performance improvement plans, progressive discipline, and terminations when appropriate per Company policy.
