Job summary

Electra Grid Solutions is seeking a Distribution Apprentice B in Alabama. The role focuses on building foundational knowledge and hands-on field experience under Journeyman supervision, emphasizing safety and teamwork in energized and de-energized environments.

You will assist in construction, maintenance, and repair of distribution systems, learn voltages, blueprints, and climbing while developing technical skills for a leadership pathway.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Class A CDL required (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
• Must pass pre-employment and ongoing drug, alcohol, background, MVR, and clearinghouse checks.
• Must pass DOT physical examination.
• First Aid and CPR certification required (or ability to obtain).
• Competency in pole top rescue is required.
• Safety protocols must be followed.

Responsibilities

• Work safely on construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de-energized power lines.
• Assist in setting poles and anchors per safety specs.
• Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Learn distribution voltages and induced voltage concepts.
• Read and interpret blueprints under supervision; identify problems.
• Work from aerial devices and at heights.
• Assist in assembling and erecting poles of varying heights.
• Participate in framing and setting de-energized pole structures.
• Assist in installing line hardware and connectors.
• Learn wire sagging and stringing techniques.
• Follow PPE usage and inspect rubber goods and cover-up equipment.
• Climb wood and steel structures with proper gear.
• Demonstrate knowledge of lineman knots and hand lines.
• Learn grounding procedures and safe equipment setup.
• Handle different distribution line materials.
• Understand minimum approach distance and flag/tag procedures.
• Perform basic aerial bucket rescue as required.
• Function within a crew with initiative and teamwork.
• Perform other duties to support crew and operations.
