Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking engineers to evolve how EBS volumes are placed across AWS storage servers. The team tackles challenges at scale to optimize density, performance, durability, and cost while delivering predictable storage services.

You will work on real-time placement decisions and background fleet optimization, collaborating with multiple teams to drive operational excellence and customer impact. This role centers on distributed systems, data analysis, and scalable algorithms.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• Design and write code to update placement decision engine for new storage features or optimizations.
• Dive into data to measure the effectiveness of changes you make.
• Reason about factors like infrastructure variability and workload patterns in placement decisions.
• Debug complex distributed systems issues with careful analysis and problem solving.
• Review proposals and code from peers and partner teams.
