Location: Remote

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $242,000-$302,000 (Range applies to US candidates only) + Benefits/Variable Comp/Equity - Range may vary based on experience.

Summary

The Distinguished Engineer on the Platform Development Team is a big picture thinker who keeps in mind why they are building something and who they are building it for – our customers. This role requires one to think outside the box and develop creative solutions in the design, development, and maintenance of the OneStream Platform and ecosystem.

This position requires strong knowledge of modern software design principles, concepts, and best practices. The Distinguished Engineer is expected to work well in a focused group of engineers. They will report to the Vice President, Platform Engineering, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to tackle complex challenges, shaping the product's architecture, performance, and scalability. You will mentor other engineers, influence key business decisions, and help evaluate the company’s technology stack. This role offers exciting opportunities to innovate and have a profound impact on our engineering organization as well as other areas of the organization.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and deliver large-scale, reliable, maintainable, and high-quality software products and systems. Ensure alignment with company guidelines and best practices, maintain comprehensive documentation for software design, implementation, and maintenance, and ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards.
• Champion and drive the technical vision for the company, ensuring alignment with business-critical strategic goals and industry trends. Deliver innovation and user value through cutting-edge technology solutions.
• Provide expert guidance and mentorship to staff and senior-level engineers, lead technical discussions, and make architectural decisions which positively impact the product and company’s direction.
• Collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams to set requirements, align goals, manage dependencies, resolve difficult technical issues, and drive product direction.
• Ensure that all software solutions adhere to industry security and compliance standards, with expert-level experience in SOC, FedRamp guidelines, OWASP standards, etc.
• Continuously analyze and optimize system performance, ensuring seamless data processing and retrieval.
• Drive evaluations of and independent prototyping of new technologies to inform company-level decisions on their adoption as well as the technical roadmap.
• Engage in client interactions, including escalations, to provide technical guidance, root cause analysis, and resolution.
• Provide technical leadership and engagement to ensure efforts are properly planned, prioritized, and executed to meet deadlines.
• Recommend new technologies to ensure quality and productivity.
• Present to leadership as well as at conferences.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 20+ years of experience in scalable distributed systems and real-time data streaming technologies.
• Expert-level knowledge and experience with technologies including C#, Visual Basic, SQL Server, Web Services, WCF, WPF, XAML, XML, ASP.NET, MVC, HTML5, JavaScript, Visual Studio, Azure, .NET Core.
• EPM/CPM knowledge or financial background.
• Experience with OLAP and multidimensionality.
• Experience with ETL pipelines, data integration, and big data frameworks.
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Master’s degree in engineering or technology-related field.

• Adept at conducting research into software-related issues and products.
• Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.

• Solid experience and knowledge of software security best practices, data privacy practices, and laws.
• Strong product sense coupled with an ability to take a developer’s perspective.
• Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Thought leader with the ability to influence and drive company-wide alignment.
