Job summary

Avila University seeks a Dissertation Development and Research Support Coordinator to provide academic leadership across the dissertation process. You will mentor Dissertation Chairs, guide research design, ethics, and milestones, and collaborate with faculty to ensure scholarly standards and timely progression.

The role involves coordinating with the Ph.D. Program Director, supporting chairs and candidates, and contributing to program-wide policy refinement.

Qualifications

• Earned doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) from a regionally accredited institution.
• Expertise in doctoral research design and methodology, including dissertations.
• Three+ years of graduate-level teaching; associate professor or higher criteria.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support faculty serving as Dissertation Chairs, especially new chairs.
• Provide guidance on supervision, candidate progression, and milestone management.
• Facilitate development on research design, ethics, and scholarly standards.
• Advise on selecting methodological expertise for committees.
• Offer consultation on research questions, design, data collection, and analysis.
• Support program coordination, enrollment, and completion timelines.
• Review proposals to ensure alignment with program standards.
