Job summary

Estes Express Lines, a leading LTL freight carrier, seeks Roadside Assistance Dispatchers in Charlotte, NC. You will coordinate breakdowns and accidents via phone with Central Dispatch, Safety, Maintenance and vendors to keep drivers moving.

Responsibilities include monitoring DOT roadside inspections, authorizing purchase orders, assisting team members, and ensuring reliable attendance in a demanding 24/7 environment. Technical skills with MS Office and AS/400 are valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent background.
• Strong customer service focus and excellent communication skills.
• Efficient data entry skills required; MS Office and Excel preferred.
• Flexibility to work varied hours; 24/7/365 coverage for Roadside Dispatch.
• AS/400 experience and dispatching experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background
• Strong customer service focus and excellent communication skills required
• Efficient data entry skills required
• Experience using MS Office and Excel preferred
• Strong work ethic and flexibility to work various hours and shifts based on business needs. Roadside Dispatch team works 24/7/365 days
• Mechanical experience preferred
• Dispatching experience preferred
• Completion of technical school and experience with heavy trucks preferred
• AS/400 experience preferred
• Ability to multi-task and make quick decisions while working in a fast paced team environment
• Must be able to lift approximately 20 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job
• Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct
• Must be able to interact well with others
• Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting
• Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
• Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
