Job summary

City of Sacramento seeks an entry-level Dispatcher Recruit to handle incoming calls and dispatch police units as needed, while undergoing training in the Dispatcher Academy. You will learn department policies, procedures, and systems through on-the-job instruction in a structured program.

Upon successful graduation from the Dispatcher Training Academy, you will advance from Dispatcher Recruit to Dispatcher I, with further growth into a full public safety communications role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 12 college units, or 4 years of customer service and completion of the Sacramento Police Department's Basic Dispatch Academy within the last 12 months.
• Must pass a thorough background investigation including criminal history, fingerprinting, polygraph, psychological test, credit check and drug history.
• Must pass Dispatcher CritiCall exam by the stated deadline for consideration.

Responsibilities
