Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a Full Time Dispatcher to join the team at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. The role supports public safety dispatching, coordinating response with police, fire, and hospital staff, with 12-hour day/night shifts on site.

Responsibilities include handling calls, logging information in CAD, monitoring radio channels, and ensuring DELJIS/CJIS compliance. Requires high school diploma and two years of dispatch/public safety experience, plus DELJIS access and ICS training

Qualifications

• Two years dispatching or public safety experience required.
• Must obtain DELJIS access and maintain certification.
• Must complete ICS 100, 200 & 700 within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Answer all incoming calls and prioritize those calls by their importance.
• Document all information pertaining to the call in CAD and dispatch the appropriate personnel to the incident.
• Provide information to the Officer for report writing purposes. All information entered is time stamped for documenting purposes.
• Monitor assigned radio channels for transmissions and respond in accordance with Delaware 10 code and Phonetic Alphabet.
• Ability to multitask utilizing multiple systems and maintain control of assigned position at all times.
• Monitor fire, burglar, infant alarms, etc., and card access systems for CC.
• Maintain current log for DELJIS and CJIS.

ChristianaCare is currently seeking a Full Time Dispatcher to join the team and support successful routing of calls requiring public safety, fire protection, occupational safety, etc. The successful candidate will be responsible for dispatching proper personnel to respond to requests for assistance in a clear and timely manner and will work as needed. Dispatchers are responsible for working in our Christiana Hospital on 10-12 hour shifts for day or night.

• Answer all incoming calls and prioritizing those calls by their importance.
• Document all information pertaining to the call in CAD and dispatch the appropriate personnel to the incident.
• Provides information to the Officer for report writing purposes. All information entered is time stamped for documenting purposes.
• Monitor assigned radio channels for transmissions. As radio messages are transmitted and received the dispatcher assigned to monitor those frequencies will respond in the appropriate manner, utilizing Delaware 10 code adopted by ChristianaCare and Phonetic Alphabet.
• Ability to multi-task utilizing multiple systems and be in control of assigned position at all times.
• Monitors all fire, burglar, infant alarms, etc. and card access systems for CC.
• Responsible for maintaining current log on for DELJIS and CJIS. Programs are used to assist Officers with pertinent information concerning persons or vehicles regarding their incident.

Education and Experience Requirements

• High school Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years prior dispatching or Public Safety job related experience required.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Special Requirements

• Must be able to get approved for DELJIS (DE Criminal Justice Information System) access through the State of Delaware and maintain certification and follow their guidelines.
• Must complete Basic Telecommunicator course within 6 months of hire.
• Must completeICS 100, 200 & 700 within 6 months of hire.
• Within (1) year of hire take Active Shooter class.
• Able to work assigned day/evening/midnight/Holiday shifts designated by schedule
• Able to be On Call as schedule dictates

Schedule

• 12hr day shift

• 2/2/3 schedule

Hourly Pay Range: $21.03 - $31.54

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
