• Pre-call customers to verify delivery information, including addresses and unloading requirements.
• Assign loads to drivers and update the boom calendar accordingly.
• Confirm scheduled shipments with customers on the day of delivery, including during rain delays.

JOB SUMMARY:

Capital Precast is seeking a Dispatcher I for our San Marcos office. The Dispatcher is responsible for managing the coordination of deliveries, communication with customers, and handling logistics for shipping operations. This role ensures timely and accurate shipment scheduling while working closely with Sales Representatives, customers, and drivers. Key responsibilities include responding to incoming requests, verifying sales orders, scheduling transport, managing customer needs, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of dispatch. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Respond to incoming emails from Sales Representatives (SR) requesting deliveries, ensuring sales order details are accurate and complete.
• Schedule shipments, including verifying the type of transport required (e.g., boom, flatbed, drop deck, oversized), and add to the shipping schedule.
• Manage customer requirements such as crane meetings, job site restrictions, and specific time requests in Load Manager.
• Pre-call customers to verify delivery information, including addresses, site contacts, unloading requirements, and any applicable transport restrictions.
• Assign loads to drivers, considering weight restrictions and delivery times, and update the boom calendar accordingly.
• Confirm scheduled shipments with customers on the day of delivery, including during rain delays.
• Pick loads by verifying product availability, entering future load dates for visibility, and adding special transportation needs when required.
• Serve as the first point of contact for incoming customer calls and radio transmissions, addressing dispatch-related inquiries or passing them to Dispatcher II as needed.
• Assist yard personnel by responding to 2-way radio communications, verifying load readiness, updating systems, and managing trailer drop-off instructions.

COMPETENCIES:

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in verifying sales orders, tracking shipments, and managing schedules.
• Strong problem-solving ability, capable of addressing issues related to product availability, transportation restrictions, and customer requirements.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and meeting strict deadlines.
• Customer service-oriented, with a professional demeanor and ability to effectively handle customer interactions and meet site-specific needs.
• Proficient in using dispatch and logistics software, such as Load Manager and Titan, to manage schedules and track deliveries.
• Adaptability to handle last-minute changes, unexpected customer requests, and unforeseen circumstances such as weather delays.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma, or equivalent
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with Sales Representatives, customers, drivers, and yard personnel via email, phone, and radio.
• Strong time management skills, prioritizing tasks such as dispatching drivers, responding to customer inquiries, and updating load calendars.
• Willingness to learn and a positive, constructive attitude toward handling challenges and supporting the overall shipping process.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Work in an office environment, sitting for extended periods of time
• May need to go out to the plants in outdoor weather conditions, including extreme hot or cold temperatures
• Plant includes: moving machinery and equipment, possible electrical hazards, confined spaces, and a noisy environment
