Responsibilities

  • Dispatch police, fire, EMS, and other resources to incidents.
  • Operate CAD and telephony systems to document actions and manage calls.
  • Serve as information liaison between agencies and the public.

Description

1. Function as the department Dispatcher, to include: emergency andnon-emergency communications, operator, radio communication andmonitoring, police dispatch, and civilian personnel dispatch.

2. Serves as the dispatch Office Manager, to include: equipmentmaintenance, monitoring of alarm and other systems, checking outand inventorying keys, completing lost and found reports, operationof a multiple phone line system, and monitoring of the departmentlobby.

3. Serve as Information and Data Retrieval Specialist, to include:MULES/NCIC computer operator, retrieval and entry of informationfrom federal, state, local, and university databases.

4. Function as a Mass Communications Operator, to include: alertingthe campus community by email, text, siren, and public address (PA)systems.

Function as the department Dispatcher, to include:-50%
  • Receives emergency and non-emergency requests by telephone,radio, and in person.
  • Monitor radio communication on multiple frequencies and be ableto understand and to respond promptly and appropriately to radiotraffic.
  • Coordinates and dispatches on and off campus Law Enforcement,Fire, Safety, Emergency aid personnel, and other resources torespond to calls and alarms.
  • Utilizes Computer-Assisted Dispatch system (CAD) to takeinitial information for police reports, assign police officers,track progress of calls, and to document and note actions takenduring incidents.
  • Operate a multiple line telephone system including Telephony(TTY).
  • Dispatch Safe Team, Parking Enforcement, and other personnel asrequested and/or needed.
Serves as the dispatch Office Manager, to include:-20%
  • Remain knowledgeable of department and university policy andprocedure and be able to respond tactfully, clearly, concisely, andappropriately to inquiries from the public, staff, or otheragencies on sensitive issues.
  • Issues keys to authorized personnel, controls the key check-in/check-out procedures while maintaining all appropriaterecords.
  • Prepares lost and recovered property reports as needed.
  • Point of contact through which information is received and disseminated to both Law Enforcement agencies and the generalpublic.
  • Acts as receptionist for all three divisions of Public Safetyand University inquiries, directing them to the responsible officesaround campus.
  • Monitor security and fire alarm systems.
  • Remain knowledgeable of campus and Warrensburg to be able todirects law enforcement personnel and the general public toUniversity buildings, departments, streets, parking lots, and citylocations.
  • Coordinate with vendors and on campus resources to completework orders and to maintain equipment within the department.
  • Serve as the point of contact through which information isreceived and disseminated to both Law Enforcement agencies and thegeneral public.
  • Monitor the campus video security system.
Serve as Information and Data Retrieval Specialist, toinclude:-20%
  • Inputs and retrieve information into Missouri Uniform LawEnforcement System (MULES) which links to the Missouri Departmentof Revenue (DOR), National Crime Information Center (NCIC), and theInternational Justice and Public Safety Network (NLETS).
  • Remain knowledgeable of changes in technology and be familiarwith program capabilities to be able to actively use a variety ofcomputer programs and data sources to retrieve information inemergency and non-emergency situations
Function as a Mass Communications Operator, toinclude:-10%
  • Initiates emergency siren and alerting systems in buildings andaround campus as the situation dictates.
  • Send mass text messages and email as the situationdictates.
Typical Qualifications
Education:

High School diploma or equivalent

Experience:

1 year police dispatch experiencepreferred.

  • MULES certification preferred
