Job summary

Oldcastle APG, Inc. is hiring a Dispatcher in Bulls Gap, TN to coordinate daily dispatch and fleet activities, ensuring safe and efficient operations. You will work with drivers, customers, and internal teams to optimize reliability and service levels.

Responsibilities include coordinating driver assignments, monitoring operations, and supporting safety programs. Travel may be required; lifting up to 50 lbs is necessary.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations for commercial operations.
• Experience with routing, payloads, cargo requirements for heavy trucks and trailers.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and transportation-management software.
• Ability to coach and develop drivers and teammates to boost teamwork and productivity.
• Willingness to travel domestically as needed, primarily by automobile.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily dispatch activities including driver/equipment assignments to support safe, efficient operations.
• Maintain regular communication with drivers, customers, and office staff on schedules and changes.
• Monitor operations and adjust resources to address changing requirements.
• Support after-hours and on-site duties as directed by the Fleet Manager.
• Assist in monitoring and improving overall operational performance.
• Build strong relationships with drivers and support safety training and development.
• Support safety programs and compliance with DOT/FMCSA requirements.
• Provide recommendations to Fleet Manager on improvements and resource use.
• Prepare and maintain operational performance metrics and reports.
• Participate in meetings and support sales/service discussions as needed.
• Foster productive vendor relationships and continuous safety improvements.
• Support company safety initiatives and department goals.

Job Summary

The Dispatcher position is responsible for coordinating daily transportation and fleet activities to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. This role manages the deployment of drivers and equipment, responds to changing operational requirements, and works closely with customers, drivers, vendors, and internal teams to maintain service levels and optimize fleet utilization.

Job Location

This is an onsite position located at our Bulls Gap, TN facility.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily dispatch activities, including driver and equipment assignments, to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
• Maintain regular communication with drivers, customers, office personnel, and other stakeholders regarding schedules, assignments, service requirements, and operational changes.
• Monitor daily operations and adjust resources as necessary to address changing customer and business requirements.
• Support operational issues outside normal business hours, including on-site responsibilities when directed by the Fleet Manager.
• Assist with monitoring and improving overall operational performance.
• Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with drivers and support driver safety, training, and development activities.
• Support the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of driver safety programs.
• Promote compliance with applicable DOT and FMCSA requirements and company safety expectations.
• Develop, monitor, and maintain operational performance metrics.
• Evaluate operational processes and procedures and recommend opportunities to improve safety, productivity, service, and asset utilization.
• Participate in customer meetings and support sales, service, and pricing discussions as appropriate.
• Develop and maintain productive vendor relationships.
• Support company safety initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement in overall safety performance.
• Provide recommendations to the Fleet Manager regarding operational improvements, resource utilization, and departmental goals.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business needs.

Job Requirements

• Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations applicable to commercial motor carrier operations.
• Familiarity with heavy-duty truck and trailer operations, including routing, payloads, cargo requirements, and maintenance considerations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to work effectively with transportation-management and other operational software platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to coach and develop employees while promoting teamwork, engagement, and productivity.
• Ability to travel domestically as business needs require, primarily by automobile with occasional air travel up.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
