Job Description: Dispatcher at First Student

Dispatcher Responsibilities:

• Oversee all routes and bus scheduling
• Counsel and coach drivers and monitors
• Handle heavy phone and radio traffic
• Manage scheduling, driver complaints, and report to Operations Supervisor/Contract Manager
• Serve as primary communication liaison with major contracted customers
• Handle charter reservations, billing, or driver payroll
• Provide solutions to drop-off and pick-up issues
• Handle back-up driver duties or perform clerical tasks as needed
• Complete special projects and assist with daily operations supervision

Experience and Skills Required:

• 3-5 years of relevant experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines
• Previous terminal operations, dispatch, or driver experience
• Computer literacy
• Subject to DOT drug testing and physical, with adherence to DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40
