Job summary

Keolis Commuter Services is hiring for a dispatcher/operations supervisor role in the Los Angeles area. Schedule is Monday–Friday with a pay range of $22–$24 per hour.

You will assign work, monitor trips, and support drivers in emergencies while maintaining logs and ensuring safety. The role requires at least a high school diploma or GED, 21+ age, and 2 years of high-volume environment experience with strong verbal and radio communication.

Responsibilities

• Assign work, vehicles and on-board equipment to operators and maintain check-out logs
• Assign operators in the event of operator absences, increased service volumes to minimize disruptions
• Maintain accurate logs for attendance
• Maintain communication with operators, providing information on customers, cancellations, and directions
• Monitor operators and trip status to ensure on-time performance
• Provide assistance to operators in emergencies or vehicle malfunctions with relevant staff
• Reschedule trips when needed due to delays or emergencies
• Reconcile trip manifests by operators
• Assist passengers in using the service and checking trip status
• Document daily events related to service
• Collect and catalog lost and found items and contact passengers when possible
• Maintain a safe work area and focus on safety to reduce injuries
• Radio check all vehicles leaving the yard
• Establish and maintain headways for online buses
• Maintain “exceptions” and “incidents” logs
• Assist drivers with informational material as needed
• Report to supervisors and duty managers any drivers not meeting duties online
• Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

  The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

Knowledge and Experience:

Key Accountabilities:

• Assign work, vehicles and on-board equipment to operators and maintain check-out logs
• Assign operators in the event of operator absences, increased service volumes in order to minimize service disruptions as a result of traffic, vehicle malfunctions, operator problems and/or emergency situations.
• Maintain accurate logs for attendance
• Maintain communication with operators, providing information on customers, cancellations, and directional assistance where necessary
• Monitor operators and trip status, making adjustments and reassignments as necessary to ensure on time performance
• Provide assistance to operators in the event of emergency or vehicle malfunctions, communicating with operations, safety and maintenance staff where appropriate.
• Reschedule trips as necessary in the event of vehicle malfunction, traffic, or emergency situations
• Reconcile trip manifests by operators
• Provide assistance to passengers in using the service as well as when inquiring about individual trip status.
• Document accurately and appropriately daily events related to service
• Collect any lost and found articles and catalog, attempt to contact appropriate passengers where possible
• Maintain a safe work area and a focus on safety to reduce the opportunity for injury to self or other employees.
• Radio check all vehicles leaving the yard at all times
• Establish and maintain headways for all online buses
• Will maintain “exceptions” and “incidents” log
• Will assist drivers with informational material as needed
• Report to supervisors and duty managers any drivers failing to meet duties online

• Operations Supervisors and Managers may split their work between an office setting looking at a computer screen/electronic device and active transit field locations driving in a vehicle.
• Maintenance Employees may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals in a ventilated maintenance shop and may work with personal computers, laptops, electronic hand-held devices, complex electrical schematics, diagnostic software and testing devices, and other heavy machinery.
• Office Staff may work indoors in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities, including offices and cubicle spaces equipped with a telephone and computer and may entail typing or looking at a computer screen.
