Job summary

thyssenkrupp Materials Services is seeking a Dispatcher to manage delivery and pickup requests, consolidate freight, and coordinate driver assignments within designated territories. The role emphasizes accurate billing, radio/phone communication, and proactive backhaul efforts.

The position requires 1–2 years of admin experience, strong communication skills, and knowledge of DOT regulations, with a focus on safe, efficient routing and adherence to schedules.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years administrative experience required
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience with MS Excel and Word
• Ability to work without supervision
• Prior experience/exposure to logistics or trucking operations
• Knowledge of DOT regulations as they pertain to our trucking environment
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and at a fast pace.
• Good management skills in making driver assignments and developing cooperation among the team of drivers.
• Good knowledge of geographical area to facilitate efficient routing.

Responsibilities

• Record and allocate all requests for delivery and pickup within established territories among the available drivers.
• Consolidate freight orders into truckloads for specific destinations.
• Records all information for proper billing.
• Make assignments of drivers and trucks. Calls in extra drivers when needed to handle unexpected volume.
• Maintain radio and phone contact with trucks, receive and dispatch aid in response to any emergency needs for assistance or repairs.
• Communicate with all Drivers, customers, and suppliers in a professional and courteous manner.
• Keep vehicle inventory with accurate records of trailers being used for off-site storage to ensure proper billing.
• Document, investigate and report equipment damages.
• Maintain metric reports as required by management and or customers.
• Proactively seek out backhaul loads.
• Complete administrative duties timely and accurately.
• Maintain written/computerized records and other forms of information.
• All other duties assigned by reporting Manager/Supervisor.
• Participate, support and comply with all health, safety and 6S initiatives and requirements.
• Meet TKMNA Employee Attributes / Competencies.

Job Compensation

Compensation up to $20.76 an hour based on experience
