Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. in Columbus, MS is seeking a Dispatch Coordinator to build, schedule and dispatch outbound truck and rail freight for customers.

You will communicate with carriers, sales, dispatch teammates, transportation, production, IT and customers, and assist with forecast accuracy, carrier evaluations and onboarding new carriers.

This on-site role demands high speed processing, attention to detail and teamwork across logistics functions.

• Utilization of multiple computer programs directly and indirectly involved with truck and rail shipments.
• Communicate effectively with carriers, sales, members of dispatch team, transportation, production departments, I.T. and customers.
• Engage with railroad representatives as necessary.
• Assist with calculating month end shipment forecast and supporting additional dispatch functions.
• Assist with perspective carrier evaluations and soliciting new carriers.

• Build, dispatch and coordinate scheduling of outbound rail freight
• Utilization of multiple computer programs directly and indirectly involved with truck and rail shipments
