Job summary

CS Recruiting, a Hirewell company, is seeking an experienced Driver Manager to lead a regional fleet of tractors and drivers. You will serve as the primary communication link with drivers, ensuring understanding of customer requirements and company expectations, and you will coordinate loads with planning to maximize productivity.

Responsibilities

• Primary communication with drivers on load information and company requirements.
• Ensure drivers understand customer requirements and company expectations.
• Manage an assigned fleet of tractors and drivers for optimal performance.
• Monitor on-time pickup/delivery and adherence to schedules.
• Ensure hours of service compliance and route efficiency.
• Coordinate with planning to obtain loads and dispatch drivers.
• Lead and develop a regional driver team; conduct monthly reviews.
• Enforce company policies and manage driver performance.

Job description

• Primary source of communication with driver, including, but not limited to, load information, purchase orders, maintenance coordination, performance counseling and dissemination of general company news and information
• Ensure that each driver has an adequate understanding of all details of customer requirements and company expectations
• Responsible for effective management of an assigned fleet of tractors and drivers that will yield optimum performance including, but not limited to, the following categories:
• On-time pickup and delivery performance
• Out of route miles
• Hours of service compliance
• Accommodation of special routing needs
• Cost control focus
• Daily accounting of all assigned trucks and drivers and ensure the highest possible utilization
• Lead and retain a designated fleet of regional drivers.
• Establish a good working relationship with each driver.
• Work with planning to obtain loads for their fleet and dispatches drivers.
• Manage driver availability to maximize the productivity of their fleet.
• Perform A.M. and P.M. checks and update ETA & PTA's on trucks and note daily.
• Perform monthly driver reviews.
• Manage driver performance and take proper disciplinary steps if necessary.
• Know, support and enforce company policies.
• Manage service levels of 98% for on time pickup and delivery.
• Ensure payroll accuracy for assigned drivers.
• All other duties and projects as assigned.

Experience:

• AS400 Innovative knowledge preferred
• Five years of driver management experience a plus
