Job summary

United Building Materials in Columbus, OH is seeking an assistant dispatcher to work with the Dispatcher/Operations Manager, directing ordering and delivery of materials to customers on a day-to-day basis.

You will schedule deliveries, coordinate with drivers and warehouse staff, ensure accuracy and timeliness, and uphold safety and service standards while supporting a collaborative operations team.

Qualifications

• GED required, some college preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of dispatching experience.
• Strong communication and leadership qualities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain receiving, warehousing and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
• Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements and enforces adherence to requirements.
• Completes warehouse/delivery requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
• Coordinates with personnel to ensure that service to the customer meets an acceptable standard and generates positive feedback.
• Ensures compliance with the Safety and Loss Control Program.
• Cooperates with Safety director and GMS Risk Management representatives in the investigation and analysis of potential hazards to enforce methods and reduce losses of claims.
