Job description

A Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and proper storage of all china, glass, and silverware, and ensuring the highest standards of sanitation. He/she also assists kitchen staff in maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen and storage areas, including cleaning equipment, utensils, and work areas. Additionally, the Steward supports proper food storage and rotation.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the availability of clean dishes by bussing tables, washing dishes, pots, pans, and flatware, and resetting dining areas.
  2. Prepare dining and kitchen areas for the next shift by cleaning and restocking.
  3. Clean kitchen appliances and equipment such as coffee makers, mixers, etc.
  4. Unload and store deliveries properly.
  5. Sweep and mop floors, especially after spills or breakage.
  6. Take out trash and rinse garbage cans.
  7. Support other staff members as needed.
  8. Report kitchen accidents or food safety violations.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent, or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to evaluate and select among courses of action quickly.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain composure.
