Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a part-time PRN dishwashing associate to support the Culinary Department with cleaning, sanitizing, and general housekeeping in a hospital setting. The role requires working around water and cleaning chemicals while maintaining safety standards.

The position is 0-40 hours per week with an afternoon availability (3:30pm - 9:30pm) and weekend coverage. Collaboration with diverse teams to meet department objectives is essential.

Qualifications

  • Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification is required by first day of work (required only in the states of Utah and Idaho).
  • Demonstrates ability to read color coded labels and chemicals as well as following written and verbal directions
  • Demonstrate ability to operate housekeeping equipment and dish machine (preferred)

  • Collects carts with patient trays from hospital floors
  • Cleans and disinfects assigned areas including dining areas using department cleaning procedures
  • Uses cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards

  • Operates and maintains assigned equipment (e.g. commercial dishwasher) according to established procedures

Responsible for dishwashing and other general housekeeping tasks. Maintains the Culinary Department in a sanitary, safe, and clean condition that meets hospital, Health Department and Joint Commission standards.

Posting Specifics

Pay Rate: Based on Experience

Shift Details: PRN position (0-40 hrs/wk) Primarily Afternoon availability needed for this position (3:30pm - 9:30pm), Including Weekends. Will help cover vacant shifts as needed within the department. MUST be available to work 2-3 Afternoon / Evening shifts per week.

Physical Requirements
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  • Occasional interaction with customers that requires employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Remain standing for long periods of time to perform work.
  • Tolerate extremes in temperature such as performing work around dish machines and tolerate exposure to cleaning chemicals.
