Job summary

Alfred E Smith / Fireboat is seeking a Dishwasher / Porter, an integral part of our award-winning back-of-house team. You will help maintain clean glassware, china, and overall sanitation to ensure hospitality standards are met.

Location: Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6, Governors Island - Atlantic Ave/Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Pay ranges from $17.00 to $19.00 per hour with day, night, weekend and weekday shifts available.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Able to lift 50+ lbs.
• Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must maintain neat uniform and personal hygiene per policy.
• English language proficiency (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize glassware and china.
• Follow sanitation and safety standards per DOH and company policies.
• Dispose of trash and keep back-of-house areas clean.
• Set up and breakdown station for each service and prep for next service.
• Report to work in neat uniform and maintain grooming standards.
• Work with venues to ensure DOH compliance.

Pay

$17.00/hr - $19.00/hr

Schedule

Day, night, weekend, and weekday shifts available

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize all glassware and china
• Comply with Company and Department of Health established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards; observe proper food preparation and handling techniques and safety protocols
• Comply with Company safety plan and standards as set forth in training materials
• Dispose of all trash, cardboard, etc. from kitchen and service areas as required
• Exercise sound judgement taking into account safety, customer needs, and environmental factors
• Keep work area neat and clean at all times to ensure DOH standards are met
• Maintain cleanliness of all storage areas and back of house areas by emptying trash, sweeping and mopping floors, etc.
• Perform daily cleaning and sanitation tasks as directed
• Report to work in a neat and clean uniform; maintain well-groomed hair and personal hygiene as established by company policy
• Set up and breakdown station to specification; perform cleaning tasks at the conclusion of each service and prepare for the following service
• Clean and stock bathrooms
• Work with venues on DOH compliance

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to perform essential job functions when working in a high business volume, fast-paced environment
• Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods of time as required to perform essential job functions
• Able to lift 50+ lbs.
• Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule, per the needs of the business
• Organizational skills
• Polished personal presentation; grooming meets Company standards, as outlined by Employee Handbook
• Willingness to work in outdoor climate conditions
• Must have a positive attitude and work well within a team
• Working proficiency of written and spoken English
