Job summary

Mercer Street Hospitality is hiring an AM or PM Dishwasher/Porter to join the opening team for a seafood concept at the W Union Square Hotel in New York. You will assist in washing dishes, maintaining clean BOH and prep areas, and supporting the kitchen during high-energy service.

The role requires the ability to work quickly, take feedback, and maintain cleanliness in a fast-paced environment. Competitive hourly pay and NYC benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Experience in dishwashing or kitchen porter roles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Wash all dishes and cooking equipment promptly during service.
• Clean and maintain cooking stations and equipment.
• Clean and maintain FOH areas and curbside as requested.
• Keep open communication with BOH and FOH teams.
• Maintain cleanliness of BOH work areas and prep spaces.
• Participate in deep cleaning of BOH areas.
• Assist in basic food preparation as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties

• Washing all dishes and cooking equipment in a timely manner during and between restaurant services
• Clean cooking stations and equipment to help expedite service
• Clean and maintain FOH areas and curbside if requested by the supervisor
• Keep open communication with the BOH team and FOH team
• Maintain cleanliness of any BOH work areas, including but not limited to refrigeration, cooking equipment, and prep areas.
• Participate in deep cleaning of BOH work areas, including but not limited to refrigeration, cooking equipment, and prep areas
• Assist in other BOH areas as needed, including but not limited to basic food preparation.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced and high-energy environment
• Must possess thoroughness and time management skills
• Able to take constructive criticism, learn quickly, and constantly improve
• Related experience preferred
