Dishwasher - Niagara Falls Culinary Institute

Position Title: Dishwasher

Position Category: Laborer

Position Status: 12 Month (FLSA Non‑Exempt)

Advertised Salary: $17.10 per hour

Working Hours: 40 hours per week (evening shifts)

Supervised by: Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs and Faculty

Overview

Niagara Falls Culinary Institute (NFCI) seeks a dedicated and reliable student laborer to maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen in Savor Restaurant. Responsibilities include washing dishes, pots, pans, cambros, cleaning floors, and supporting other facilities.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

1. Wash dishes and cooking equipment such as large pots, pans and cambros.
2. Scrub pots, pans, and cambros, hand wash or use automatic dishwasher.
3. Put cooking equipment away in proper place once cleaned and dried.
4. Maintain the dish room by cleaning and disinfecting the dishwasher and surrounding area.
5. Sweep, mop, and clean kitchen‑area floors, cooler floors, etc.
6. Receive used cambros and equipment and cart them to the dishwashing room.
7. Assist with the loading of full cambros onto carts and move them to the loading area.
8. Take out garbage.
9. Shovel snow when assigned.

Essential Functions

• Working knowledge of proper methods of storing and serving food and care of cooking implements
• Ability to follow simple oral and written directions
• Ability to lift heavy objects frequently; physical strength and stamina
• Willingness to be exposed to hot temperatures, dust, dirt, grease, grime, and offensive odors
• Physical condition commensurate with demands of the position
