Job summary

Atterdag Village in Solvang, CA is seeking a dedicated Dishwasher to keep the kitchen clean, safe, and compliant with state and federal regulations. You will wash and store tableware, pots, pans, and cooking equipment, and maintain a tidy dish room for staff.

This role reports to the Nutrition Services Director, supports cooks and wait staff, and participates in meal service and special events as needed. Attention to health, safety, and proper sanitizing procedures are essential.

Qualifications

• Health screening required to verify good health.
• TB test or chest X-ray required by Title 22.
• Criminal record clearance through fingerprinting.
• Knowledge or experience in food service preferred.
• ServeSafe Certificate preferred.
• Must communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain kitchen in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition at all times.
• Wash and store all dishes and equipment in accordance with policy and procedures.
• Maintain dish room area in a neat, clean and sanitary manner, maintaining sanitizing temperatures as required by state and federal regulations.
• Keep kitchen floors clean (sweeps and mops) and carry out trash and food wasted to dumpsters per policies and procedures.
• Set up meal trays, food carts, dining room, etc., as instructed.
• Assist cook in preparing meals.
• Deliver food carts, trays, etc., to designated areas.
• Remove food trays from carts, dining rooms, etc., and take to dishwashing area.
• Deliver snacks, etc., as instructed.
• Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times.
• Adhere to cleaning schedules as assigned.
• Assist cooks and wait staff as requested.
• Assist with preparation and execution of special events, banquets, and theme meals.
• May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.
• Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
• Attend staff meetings, department meetings, and inservices as required, make reports and maintains files as required by state and federal regulations.
• Adhere to all regulatory standards including maintaining of administrative records as required by facility policies as well as state and federal regulations.
• Wear required Dress Code items, including non-slip shoes, and when required safety related protective equipment.

• Title 22 requires a person in this position to be fingerprinted, receive and maintain a criminal record clearance, before employment may begin or sustained.
• Knowledge and experience in food service preferred.
• ServeSafe Certificate Preferred.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing, receive written and oral instructions and possess good interaction skills.
