Job summary

Orbital Kitchens, a New York–based delivery-focused kitchen company, is seeking a reliable Dishwasher / Porter to support daily operations and maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen.

Responsibilities include washing and sanitizing dishes, operating dishwashing equipment, and assisting with general cleaning and storage tasks while adhering to food safety regulations. This is a part-time role in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Previous dishwashing or restaurant experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume commercial kitchen.
• Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and teamwork.
• Availability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
• Operate and maintain commercial dishwashing equipment.
• Ensure clean kitchen tools and equipment are consistently available for kitchen staff.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen floors, walls, countertops, sinks, and workstations.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, and maintain kitchen and storage areas.
• Remove trash, recycling, and food waste throughout the shift.
• Clean and maintain garbage disposal areas, drains, and grease-related equipment as assigned.
• Complete daily, weekly, and deep-cleaning tasks according to established schedules.
• Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing kitchen supplies and deliveries.
• Maintain clean and organized storage areas, walk-in refrigerators, and dry storage spaces.
• Support kitchen staff with basic tasks as needed.
• Report equipment issues, safety hazards, or sanitation concerns to management.
• Follow opening, closing, and overnight cleaning procedures as assigned.

Key Responsibilities.

Dishwashing & Kitchen Sanitation.

Physical Requirements.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods..
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds..
• Ability to bend, reach, squat, and perform repetitive movements..
• Comfortable working around water, cleaning chemicals, hot equipment, and refrigerated areas..
• Ability to perform physically demanding cleaning duties throughout the shift..
