Job summary

Tommy's Tavern + Tap Morris Plains is seeking a Dishwasher to support kitchen operations during service. You will wash and sanitize dishes, keep the dish area clean, and assist with trash removal and prep tasks as needed.

Candidates should be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work well with a team in a fast-paced environment focused on consistent food safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen/dishwashing experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant.
• Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.

Responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, and equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of dishwashing area.
• Assist with trash removal and floor/wall cleaning.
• Help kitchen staff with prep and cleaning tasks as needed.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service.

The Dishwasher will assist in the preparation and cooking of food, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency. This role is integral in supporting kitchen operations, maintaining cleanliness, and adhering to food safety standards.

Requirements

• Wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment according to health and safety standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dishwashing area and kitchen.
• Assist with trash removal and cleaning of kitchen floors, walls, and surfaces.
• Ensure all dishware is properly stored and ready for use.
• Monitor dish machine operation and report any issues to the Assistant Kitchen Manager.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Support kitchen staff with prep or cleaning tasks as needed.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during service.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Previous experience in a kitchen or dishwashing role preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed.
