The Detroit Foundation Hotel has transformed the historic Detroit Fire Department Headquarters into a 100-room independent hotel that adds another piece to the ongoing Detroit renaissance puzzle. The hotel draws on the Motor City's unparalleled past while proactively moving the city to its next incarnation as a national cultural, business, and artistic touchpoint. Featuring an inviting ground-floor restaurant, The Apparatus Room, the hotel partners with local distillers, brewers, farmers, and other edible sundry purveyors to deliver an authentic Detroit experience.
The hotel is managed by Aparium, founded in 2011, driven by the belief that all hospitality experiences should be fueled by the poetics of their surroundings. Aparium is known for its ability to combine the business acumen of large hospitality companies with the charm of boutique hotels, especially in smaller markets.
You are a natural "neat-freak", constantly adjusting shelves of food or equipment so the labels face out and the rows are nearly perfect. You take pride in a clean floor and understand the necessity of a well-kept walk-in cooler. Your experiences have led you to understand that there is an art and science to the how and what of a restaurant kitchen. You may have limited industry experience but are eager to learn under outstanding culinary leadership and work alongside colleagues. You understand that cleanliness is key to success in any kitchen environment.
The Dishwasher reports to the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs, working to maintain cleanliness and organization of culinary spaces. An understanding of culinary operations and strong organizational skills are essential. Collaboration with culinary leadership is encouraged for shared success. You will develop trusting relationships with peers across the hotel, working in a team that values collaboration, humility, and open-mindedness. Respect for leadership and peers is imperative; egos are not tolerated.
