Job summary

Black Bear Diner seeks a Dish Machine Operator to own the dishwashing process, ensuring utensils and service ware are properly cleaned, sanitized, and stocked for staff usage. You will help keep the dishroom organized and report any machine issues promptly.

Responsibilities include monitoring dish machine cycles, maintaining clean tableware, and assisting teammates as needed to ensure smooth dinner service and guest satisfaction. Flexible schedule is required, including nights and weekends.

Diner Dish Machine Operator

Duties:

• At Black Bear Diners, we have been serving Good Old Fashioned Family Food since 1995. We are a fun, family-friendly concept known for our great homemade food, large portions and genuine, friendly service.
• The overall responsibility of a Dish Machine Operator is you’ll own the dishwashing process to make sure that all utensils and service ware are cleaned, sanitized and stocked for all other crew members, which results in dinner running smoothly and our guests returning.

Knowledge / Technical Expertise:

• Familiar with and practice all company standards related to position.
• Load, run and unload dish machine.
• Keep the dish machine clean and report any functional or mechanical problems immediately.
• Monitor dish machine water temperature and chemical usage to ensure sanitary wash cycle.
• Wash and store all tableware and kitchenware.
• Keep dishroom clean and organized.
• Maintain adequate levels of clean tableware for dining room and kitchen.
• Handle tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
• Assist other employees as needed in cleaning and organizing.
• Bag and haul dishroom trash to dumpster at designed times.
• Complete sidework for station and shift.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the manager-on-duty
• Other Duties as assigned

Appearance / Uniform:

• Complies with all company standards related to appearance and uniform standards.

WORK Conditions:

• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business.

Postural & Physical Demand Requirements:

• Frequent reaching above waist, chest and shoulder level as well as and reaching below waist level.
• Frequent to continuous need for manual dexterity of both hands (pushing, pulling, handling, gripping, fine finger controls, etc.).
• Continuous standing on hard surfaces for many tasks.
• Frequent hip flexion while walking for all tasks.
• Frequent exposure to cold/ below freezing and high heat temperatures (walk-in refrigerator, freezers, and ovens)
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Bending, squatting, stooping for cleaning activities throughout the shift.
• Climbing on step stools for cleaning projects as needed.
