Job summary

Solstice Advanced Materials is seeking a Discovery R&D Technician to provide technical support in the Discovery R&D group at our Buffalo, NY on-site facility. You will assist chemists and engineers, conduct synthesis, measurements, and testing, and maintain lab notebooks with accurate data.

Responsibilities include operating synthesis and analytical equipment (GC, GC-MS, FT-IR, NMR), documenting observations, and ensuring safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Keen eye for making and recording critical experimental observations in an R&D laboratory environment.
• Maintaining laboratory notebook with thorough reporting of experimental data and observations.
• Ability to understand and identify chemical and physical changes throughout experiments.
• Ability to constructively contribute to design of experiment (DOE) plans based on previous experiments.

Responsibilities

• Synthesis of novel chemicals for a variety of applications (refrigeration, blowing agents, solvents, thermal management fluids)
• Experimental measurements of key thermophysical and electrical properties for target applications
• Performance testing of novel or known chemicals at the application level for different focus areas
• Set up and maintain chemical synthesis equipment, electronic systems, thermal systems, chemical loops, and analytical instruments
• Operating validated experiments and supporting lab work by recording observations, performing calculations, data analysis, and reporting data
• Demonstrate ability to conduct tasks safely and independently under supervision and troubleshoot lab equipment
