Solstice Advanced Materials is seeking a Discovery R&D Technician to provide technical support in the Discovery R&D group at our Buffalo, NY on-site facility. You will assist chemists and engineers, conduct synthesis, measurements, and testing, and maintain lab notebooks with accurate data.
Responsibilities include operating synthesis and analytical equipment (GC, GC-MS, FT-IR, NMR), documenting observations, and ensuring safety procedures.

The applicant is expected to be familiar with electrical instrumentation, measurement, and analysis. This includes data acquisition systems, pressure, temperature, and flow sensors.
The applicant is expected to be familiar with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), some data acquisition programs, CAD/CAE 3D modeling software, various instrumental control software suites, and instrumentation programming software.
The applicant must be able to move up to 1000 lb liquid nitrogen cylinders and other large gas cylinders using proper tools; be able to lift, handle, and dispense from 5-gallon pails and be able to move, handle, and dispense from 55-gallon drums. Occasional lifting and manipulation of objects up to 35 pounds may be required. Demonstrated safe handling of various corrosive, highly hazardous, as well as non-hazardous chemicals is required is required.
The applicant is expected to always work safely and to actively participate in the group's safety program. The applicant must have strong communication skills in a team environment where hard project deadlines are often encountered. To be qualified for this position, applicants must be able to wear safety shoes, chemical goggles, safety glasses with side shields, lab coat, and occasionally elevated PPE such as respiratory PPE, acid suit, or rubber lab aprons with gauntlet gloves.
The annual base pay for this position is $41.40 per hour. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
